Methodology
How every number on this site gets to the page — and stays correct.
Where the numbers come from
Every calculator, comparison, and article anchors to a primary regulatory source. We do not transcribe from secondary aggregator sites.
- Tax math — Income Tax Act, current Finance Act, CBDT circulars, Budget speech.
- Insurance — IRDAI Master Circulars, IRDAI Handbook of Indian Insurance Statistics, insurer filings on the IRDAI portal.
- Loans & banking — RBI Master Directions, RBI bulletins, NHB norms.
- Investing — SEBI regulations, AMFI fund-category classifications, Value Research category-level returns.
How formulas stay correct
Every engine ships with golden-file unit tests. Numeric data extracted from regulator PDFs / Excel files is locked with source-anchored fixtures so silent drift fails loudly.
- Formula tests run on every deploy.
- IRDAI Claim Settlement Ratio data is extracted from the official Excel handbook by a versioned script (
scripts/extract-csr-2024-25.py) and locked with 22 fixture-row equality assertions. - The site's link graph is invariant-tested — every comparison page must have at least one inbound "next steps" link from a calculator.
When pages are re-checked
Every tool, hub, comparison, and article has a visible "Reviewed by" signature with a last-reviewed date. Cadence:
- Annual full-site pass — the named author re-verifies math against current Finance Act changes and bumps every page's review date.
- Event-driven re-checks — Budget day, RBI rate-decision day, IRDAI handbook release, SEBI category overhaul, mid-year tax notification.
- Reader-reported issues — corrections logged at /corrections, response within 3 business days.
How AI is (and is not) used
AI assistants are used for code authorship, copy drafting, and test generation under human review. They are not used to fabricate regulatory data, generate citations, or stand in for the named author's review. Every numeric claim ties back to a primary-source extraction by a deterministic script under human review.
What this site does and does not earn from
Artha Engine does not earn commission from banks, insurers, AMCs, brokers, or any financial provider. There is no "apply now" flow that pays a referral fee. Calculators are not tilted toward any product. We do not collect loan applications or distribute mutual funds. The site is funded by the founder.
